Frankincense Renewal Face Oil

I originally made this face oil for a customer wanting something deeply nourishing, simple and natural for mature skin. But after creating the blend, I honestly fell in love with it myself.

There’s something really beautiful about working with frankincense resin. The aroma is warm, grounding and earthy in a way that feels calming the moment you open the bottle. It turns a normal skincare routine into more of a quiet ritual.

For this blend, I slowly infused frankincense resin into jojoba oil, then combined it with rosehip oil, castor oil and a touch of sea buckthorn. I wanted it to feel rich and restorative while still absorbing nicely into the skin without feeling too heavy.

Rosehip oil has always been one of my favourite oils for dry or mature skin because it leaves the skin feeling soft, smooth and replenished. The castor oil adds a little extra nourishment, while jojoba helps balance everything beautifully.

I’ve been applying a few drops at night after cleansing and pressing it gently into my skin rather than rubbing it in. It leaves such a lovely glow by morning.

What I love most about this oil is that it feels simple and intentional. No long list of ingredients. Just beautiful botanical oils chosen to work together.

Like all Westallow Organics products, this face oil is handcrafted in small batches here in Western Australia using carefully selected ingredients and traditional slow infusion methods.

Sea buckthorn was a last little addition to this formula, but I feel like it really completes it. Even in very small amounts, it’s incredibly rich and vibrant.

It has this deep golden-orange colour that comes from its naturally occurring antioxidants and plant compounds, and it’s often used in skincare for dry, mature or tired-looking skin.

I only use a small amount because it’s so potent, but I love the extra richness and glow it gives the oil. It adds another layer of nourishment without making the blend feel heavy.

Combined with the frankincense and rosehip, it creates a face oil that feels restorative, grounding and deeply botanical — especially as part of an evening skincare ritual.

I’m still trialling this blend in small batches, but I have a feeling it may become a permanent part of the collection 🌿

Benefits of Using Beef Tallow on Your Skin

Why this traditional ingredient is making a modern comeback in skincare?

When it comes to natural skincare, sometimes the most effective solutions are the ones that have been around for centuries. Beef tallow, a nourishing fat rendered from the suet of cows—especially from grass-fed, organic sources—is one of those timeless treasures. Once a staple in skincare before the rise of synthetic products, tallow is now experiencing a well-deserved revival. And for good reason.

1. Remarkably Compatible with Our Skin
Tallow has a unique fatty acid profile that closely mimics the oils our own skin produces. This makes it incredibly compatible and easy for our skin to absorb. Instead of sitting on the surface, it soaks in deeply to nourish and protect from within.

2. Intense Moisture Without the Greasy Feel
Dry, cracked, or sensitive skin? Tallow provides rich, long-lasting hydration without clogging pores or leaving a greasy residue. It's especially beneficial in drier climates or during the colder months when skin needs extra support.

3. Packed with Fat-Soluble Vitamins
Grass-fed beef tallow is naturally rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K—nutrients essential for skin health. These vitamins promote cell regeneration, support elasticity, and help protect against environmental damage.

4. Calms and Soothes
Tallow contains conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), known for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. This makes it an excellent choice for those dealing with irritated, acne-prone, or inflamed skin.

5. Strengthens the Skin Barrier
A strong skin barrier is key to healthy, radiant skin. Tallow supports the integrity of the skin's natural barrier, helping to lock in moisture and shield against pollutants and allergens.

6. A Truly Natural Option
Free from synthetic chemicals, artificial fragrances, and fillers, beef tallow is as pure as skincare gets. It’s a beautiful option for anyone looking to simplify their routine and nourish their skin with whole, recognizable ingredients.

Whether you’re new to tallow or already a believer, your skin will thank you for making the switch to this time-tested, nutrient-rich balm.

REFUND POLICY

Due to the nature of our handmade natural products we do not offer returns once shipped, however if you have any concerns please contact us.

We also want to kindly note that tallow may have a natural, underlying scent, which comes from the traditional rendering process and lack of chemical masking agents. While we do our best to blend in high-quality essential oils or botanicals, this subtle scent is a normal characteristic of pure tallow and a sign of its authenticity. We take pride in using the highest quality ingredients and purification methods to ensure the highest quality.
